In October, Watford Writers joined forces with KidsLit in holding a writing competition. We invited all Watford Writers and KidsLit authors to take part. The genre chosen was Children's Fiction; and the theme: Peer Pressure
The criteria:
- A story on the theme of PEER PRESSURE aimed at children aged 11-15.
- 500 words minimum, 800 words maximum
- The story must end on a cliffhanger or be open to interpretation. This can be the opening pages of a longer novel/short story, the prologue for a novel/short story, etc. Basically, the aim is to have the reader wanting more. (What happens next?!)
The competition attracted 14 entries which can now be read below.
Results were announced at our meeting in Quakers Hall on Monday 4 November 2024; and, it's congratulations to:
- 1st Place: Ann Crago - What's The Point?
- 2nd Place: Sumi Watters - Fiery Glow
- 3rd Place: Joanna Bawa - The Price of Being with Jez
- 4th Place: Louise Welland - Keeping Mum
THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO ENTERED.
There will be a chance to hear all the entries at our Zoom meeting on 11 November.
