OUR FIRST MEETING OF THE MONTH SHALL BE AT:
QUAKERS MEETING HOUSE, 150 CHURCH ROAD, WATFORD, WD17 4QB
GUEST SPEAKER:
MARTIN CRAGO
TITLE: INTERNATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT COOPERATION
Criminals don’t respect borders. Serious and organised crime exists across the world. Industrial scale drugs importation, fraud, money laundering, child sexual exploitation and kidnapping; real issues facing every country, every day. International cooperation between law enforcement agencies is vital to combat the threat. But how does it work? Who makes it happen?
Martin Crago retired from the International Division of the UK’s National Crime Agency after 43 years at the coalface of UK law enforcement. He will talk about his career and how it remains relevant in the current law-enforcement cooperation environment; from Interpol and Europol to in-country Foreign Police Liaison officers through to the latest ‘Fusion Centre’ activity, in which Portugal, with the UK, is playing a leading role.
For writers, and in particular crime writers and playwriters, this evening will prove a real eye-opener and definitely unmissable!
MORE ABOUT MARTIN:
Martin Crago was born in Tottenham but moved to Watford as a small child. He went to Ricky Grammer school, met Ann in Bailey's nightclub 48 years ago and apart from living abroad here and there, Martin and Ann have lived in Watford, only moving away in 2021 to sunny Portugal.
We look forward to welcoming Martin to Watford Writers on 7 October.
