WRITING PROMPTS 2025

The Brief: 

In the world today, people can be convinced by disreputable characters to believe things which are patently untrue, painting a picture of a 'wonderland' in which the world will be a better place if the speaker is given power. When these characters gain power, they will often blame others for their failure to deliver, or simply lie, claiming that they have delivered.

Taking the above as the lead, members were invited to write something up to a maximum of 500 words using the theme Convince me. Through the writing, this was a genuine opportunity try to convince the listener/reader or deliberately set out to mislead and attempt expose a character as 'fake'!

A wonderful evening, hosted by Liz, on the subject of Clouds. 

Liz's interest in clouds cetainly sparked writers imagination with a variety of pieces presented on the night.

 Another good night, inspired by a piece Chris McDermott read, before Christmas, on bands he’d seen and the memories they invoked. We set up an evening to relay your stories about music. The time, the place and the memories associated. Chris hosted the evening and we heard 11 pieces. 

It was so interesting, Chris did a great job, getting through the stories and the many discussions about the songs/musical pieces. 

Lots of happy memories in what seemed like simpler times.
