March 2026 - Astronomy and Space

Inspired by the wonderful talk on astrophotography by special guest speaker Karan Bawa at our 21st birthday celebration, March's writing competition theme was Space and Astronomy. Entries were welcomed regarding any celestial object(s), space travel, or even science fiction - as long as it had a space or astronomical theme. (Note: We asked entries to stay clear of Astrology!).

It was another double-header! That is to say, flash fiction and poetry.

We received 13 flash fiction entries and can be read below.

Results were announced at our Zoom meeting on 30 March 2026.

February 2026 - Randomness/Selective

February's writing competition was a double-header: Flash Fiction and Poetry.

Taking the theme of "randomness / selective" on from our in-person meeting in the Quakers Hall on 2 February, the competition was to select a line from a song lyric (not the title!). Authors could choose any genre of song but it had to be a line taken from a song lyric.

We received 9 flash fiction entries, which can be read below.
